Edward Allenby Marshall was born on 1 December 1872 in Hawarden, Flint, Wales[1][2]. He was named after the British General, Edward Allenby.

Edward married Beatrice Fox on 11 April 1900 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England[4]. They had two children Wilfred Allenby Marshall and Bea Marshall.
Edward was a keen rambler and is said to be a founder member of the Sheffield Clarion Rambling Club in 1900
Edward was a Railwayman (Porter/Head Porter) for Great Central Railway (GCR)[5]. He had been at Saughall Station when young, promoted to the village station at Pilley near Clay Cross. Then he went to the big Victoria Station in Sheffield, where he was head porter. He refused to allow his son Wilf to become a railwayman. As Head Porter, everyone in Shefiled got to know him and the tips he received were thrown down on the table for his Grandchildren.
In 1911, Edward was living at 144 Rock St, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England[6]. One mile from Sheffield Station.
Edward died around February 1936 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was buried on 6 Feburary 1936 in Sheffield.[7]
