Research Notes

  • DNA evidence suggests John Marshall is the brother of Jacob Marshall, who owned a farm in Dixon Township, Preble County, Ohio, where John, Jr. and John, Sr. were living in 1840. It seems reasonable to believe Jacob's earlier arrival is what led John Jr., followed by their father, to move to the area. This researcher's DNA matches DNA with descendants of Jacob Marshall. - Kelly Leonard 02:32, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
  • John Marshall, Sr. may be the one named on a land grant in the Virginia Military District in Ohio. - Kelly Leonard 14:20, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
  • Now that a range of dates for his death is known, another search in newspapers could reveal an exact date of this death. Leonard-10833 02:38, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
