Biography

Some records state Maude was born in France. Her parents, Ralph and Frances Marshall were from Cotham, Nottinghamshire, England. It's possible they were visiting France at the time of Maude's birth, but most records do not reflect that.[1]

Maud Marshall is also said to have been born in 1615 Pale Park, Dorset and to have died in 1670 in Omny Parish, Sussex, England [2].

Research Notes

Maud is widely said to have been the daughter of Ralph Marshall and Frances Markham on the basis of no evidence whatsoever. She appears as such on the FamilySearch webtree [3] but the evidence attached there (Millenium File and US and International Marriage Records) lacks credibility.

Ralph Marshall married Frances Markham in 1582 in Nottinghamshire, giving a conservative year of birth for Frances of c1562. Her being the mother of Maud when she would have been 58 years old is clearly not possible and that couple have been disconnected as parents of Maud.

Marshall-11985 and Marshall-5062 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same spouse, same children, same time frame, place and date of death problematic, same person
Was she born in France or improbably Pale Park Puddletown, Dorset.(her supposed husband's place of birth Park Pale was a farm not a large area, a younger son's inheritance)

When did she marry John Martin, how do we know? (If as the 1623 visitation suggests John was born at latest 1564 then he would have been 76-106 at this marriage and in his 80s when his supposed children were born... I note one of the sons, Abram was supposed to be born in Ireland) Is there any evidence for her, all I can find is other online trees with the same muddled information.
