Biography

Janet was born about 1817. In her marriage record it states that her father is John Marshall, shoe maker in Causewayhead, Stirling. She and Andrew appear in the 1841 census in Port Street in Stirling as yet with no children. His occupation is given as Confectioner. As shown in census records Janet had at least four children - Andrew, John, Margaret and Elizabeth, but only Elizabeth's birth is on record in 1847. It may be that Janet died from complications around childbirth when Elizabeth was born. Her husband married again by the end of the next year.
