Biography

Hernándo was born between 1651 and 1661 in La Cañada, Provincia de Nuevo México, Nueva España. He died after 1730.

Hernándo Martín Serrano married María Montano, the widow of Juan de Moraga, in October 1685 at Corpus Christi de Ysleta. At the time, he gave is age as twenty-four (b.ca. 1661), and stated that he was a native of La Cañada. According to his declaration, his father was Capt. Luis Martin. A Hernando Martin passed muster in Sept. 1684 in the real of San Lorenzo with five other family members. His wife, Maria, was a native of the Salinas district in New Mexico, a daughter of Capt. Lucas Montano and Antonia de Garcia. Hernando passed muster before Governor Jironza in El Paso on 18 April 1686 and before Governor Reneros de Posada on 17 April 1687. Hernando and María had another known child in addition to Pascuala, his name was Antonio.

Note: In 1685 he was 24 years old, (b.ca. 1661). In 1730 he was 79 years old, (b.ca. 1651)
