Biography

Marie Louise Albina aka Delina Martel was born at Saint-SImon, Bagot, Quebec on Sept. 21, 1867 and she was baptized there the next day. [1] She is the daughter of Louis Martel and Marie Collard.

Delina Martel married Hormisdas Labossiere at Fall River, MA on August 03, 1891. [2] [3] Hormidas was 26 years old and Delina was 24. They were both working in a fabric mill with Hormisdas being a weaver and Delina, a weaver tender. He was the seventh child of 14 and the third of six known sons of Amable Labossiere and Emelie Cordelie Bousquet. Based on census records, Delina Martel and Hormisdas Labossiere had three children.

1900 US Census Massachusetts Bristol fall River Ward 3 ED 120 Sheet 13B Lines 92-96: Hormidas Labossiere, 33; Delmina Labossiere (Martel), 30; three Labossiere children: Laura, 7; Aime, 5; Albert, 2. [4]Census Date: June 14, 1900. Hormisdas Labossiere' s name has been corrupted in to Harman Leadarrian, but there is only one Delmina in Fall River at this time with three children matching the names and ages.

1910 U.S. Census Massachusetts, Bristol, Ward 3, Fall River, Ed 131, Sheet 12A, Lines 37-41: Harmidas Labossiere, 46 - weaver, cotton mill; Delmina, 41 (nee Martel); Three Labossiere children: Daughter, Laura, 17 - fur factory; Two sons: Amie, 14 - hat factory; Albert, 12. [5] Census date: April 23, 1910.

1920 U.S. Census Massachusetts, Bristol, Ward 3, Fall River, ED 48, Sheet B2, Lines 89-93 Harmidas Labbossire, 53 - weaver, cotton mill; Delmina, 51; Three Labossiere children: Daughter, Laura, 26 - cotton mill; Two sons: Amie, 24 - cotton mill; Albert, 22 - furniture mover. [6] Census Date: Jan. 3, 1920.

1930 U.S. Census, Massachusetts, Bristol, Ward 1, New Bedford, ED 97, Sheet 23B, Lines 57-60: son-in-law: Wilfrid Gamache, 38 -carpentor; Laura Gamache - Labossiere, 37 - folder, blanket mill; Hormidas Labossiere, 65; Delmina Labossiere - Martel, 61. [7] Census Date: April 18, 1930.

1940 U.S. Census, Massachusetts, Bristol, New Bedford, Ward 1, Ed 20-32, Sheet 5B, Lines 48-52: son-in-law: Wilfred Gamache, 48 -carpentor; Laura Gamache - Labossiere, 46; son; Wilfred Gamache, 9: Hormidas Labassare, 76; Dalmire Labassare - Martel, 74. [8].

Hormidas Labossiere died in 1945 at New Bedford, MA and he was buried there at the Sacred Heart Old Cemetery. He was about 82 years old.

Delima Martel - Labossiere died at New Bedford, MA in 1948 and she was laid to rest with Hormidas at the Sacred Heart Old Cemetery. [9] She was about 81 years old.
