Biography
Joseph Alexis Martel was born on the 22nd of July 1781 in Baie-du-Febvre, Province de Québec, and was baptized the same day at the Saint-Antoine-de-la-Baie-du-Febvre parish church. He was the son of Michel Martel and M. Joseph Cailla. His godparents were Joseph Houle and Appoline Brousseau. [1]
Alexis Martel married Marie Josephe Houle on the 23rd of November 1807 at the Saint-Antoine-de-la-Baie-du-Febvre parish church. [2]
Alexis Martel's first wife, Josette Houle, died on the 29th of May 1811, at the age of 22. [3] Nine months later, on the 10th of February 1812, Alexis Martel remarried to Angelique Levêque. They were married at the Saint-Antoine-de-la-Baie-du-Febvre parish church. [4]
