I, Jo-Anne (his great-niece) remember quite vividly when my mom and her mother re Clarence's sister Betty, took Rick (my older brother), Harry Jr. (younger baby brother) and self, to watch Clarence play the bagpipes as he and other band members marched along in a huge parade down through the main street of Richmond, Ontario in mid of town's annual fall Fair. Recall my thoughts, on, it being my second time and just how wonderful and unique the Bagpipes are and sound, from, out of all of the other extraordinary instruments playing, that instrument definitely clutches one's heart and soul .
The parade had no sooner ended when his sister re my grandmother suggested we all go to where he was in the fairgrounds to have a visit with him. As we approached the parking lot where Clarence had returned to, and his band, plus the several others. There was some sort of big commotion going on.. over by the vehicles where we were directed to go by someone else and then all of sudden we were told not to go, so as we were trying to see what was going on, an ambulance arrived at that area. We stood there for a couple minutes, couldn't see what was going on, overheard people saying that one of the Band members had had an heart attack :-( . That's when my mom suggested to her mother re Clarence's sister that we leave and go walk around at fair since we weren't going to be able to see him with all that going on. If I'm not mistaken can swear that my grandmother said it was Clarence who had a slight heart attack ! (?) ~does anyone recall this? I would like confirm this if at all possible. How about a picture of Clarence playing the Bagpipes possibly ! ???
