Mary is the eldest child of Bill Martin and Flo McCormick . She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1951, where the family lived until moving to Baldwin, New York when she was five. In 1963 the family moved to Morristown, New Jersey, where Mary attended Bayley-Ellard Regional HS. After high school she attended St Bonaventure University in Olean, New York for a year, which was where she met her husband, Nicholas Diamante. They were married on 14 June 1970 and had two children, identical twin boys, Chad and Lee, and four grandchildren, Nicholas, James, Elliot, and Calliope. Nick was a career Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer from 1973-1993 who moved the family all over the country, a great experience.

Mary made a career in retail cosmetic sales, working as a counter manager and makeup artist for Estee Lauder in several department stores, including Lord & Taylor and Saks 5th Ave. She retired in 2013 to take over the full time care of her husband, a disabled veteran.

My O'Brien and O'Grady lines come from Cork. Other surnames from the area are Deasy, O'Hea, and O'Donovan (Reagh). Townlands include Ahaglasin, Gortagrenane, Dundeady, and Rosscarbery.
I descend from Thomas Blain and Mary McGroarty of Killybegs. He was from a family with Scottish origin, and she from an Inver area family.
Changing from db_errors
My GGGGrandparents were Casper Odijk and Joanna Vriens Odijk. The lived in Vlaardingen, Zuid-Holland. Their son, Theodorus, my GGGrandfather, changed his name to Henry King, and lived out his life in New York after escaping from the British after a mutiny on a merchant ship. I have names and some details going back several more generations, and am looking to fill in my blanks.
Looking forward to seeing what I can contribute to the Liberation Day challenge.
I am primarily interested in Blain and McGroarty from the Killybegs, Donegal area, and the O'Brien and O'Grady families from County Cork. I also have some rather elusive Rafferty and McGrath people from Ballinabracky, Meath.
My husband's family is from Popoli, Abbruzzi and Licata, Sicily. I am researching Diamante, Benice, Bennici, Capritta, Balestreri, and Riggi. All emigrated in the late 1800s, and settled in the Cleveland, Ohio and Schenectady, New York areas.
I am on a mission to improve all of "my" profiles (about 1100 of them) by the end of the year, and I am on track to be done just after Thanksgiving. Getting rid of gedcom gobbledygook and replacing ancestry sources with sources not behind a paywall are my two biggest challenges.
What a great way to get to know other Wikitree-ers.

Hi Mary,

I was wondering if perhaps you would be interested to work on the Portal World-The Netherlands with Melissa and Bill and hopefully more members ? I was thinking maybe we can make it a sub Project of the Dutch Roots Project, where you all can add or work on more specific things related to the Netherlands you would like to see added there or work on.

If you are interested just add your name to the list and let me know, or you can of course contact Melissa or Bill directly.

Greets from the Netherlands,
