Francois Martin was born about 1693 based on his age in the Port Royal censuses of 1698, 1700, & 1701. He was the son of Pierre MartinAnne Gaudin. He was about fifth in the birth order of some 17 siblings, and the 3rd son.[1][2]
At age 32, François married Angélique Bertrand, age 19, daughter of Claude Bertrand and the late Catherine Pitre at Port Royal on 12 Feb 1725. Witnesses were Jean B. Pellerin, uncle of the bride and Charles Landry.[3][4]
He passed away sometime during Angélique's pregnancy with their only child, Simon, born on April 25, 1726. [5] His widow remarried, almost 10 months after the birth of Simon, and subsequently provided Simon with step-siblings.[6][2]
