Biography

Elwin was born in 1916, Clear Springs, Maryland, the son of Harry M. Martin and Lula E. Mills. He married Nora Boward about 1945. Elwin and Nora had a daughter..

Elwin was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army. He was a carpenter by trade in Hagerstown after his discharge. He died September 17th 1977, after suffering a stroke.

Obituary:
ELWIN C. MARTIN, 61, of Hagerstown, died Friday at the Washington County Hospital.

Born in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Harry M. and Lula E. Mills Martin. He was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, the Morris Frock Post No. 42 American Legion, a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had been employed by Perini Construction of Hagerstown.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nora M. Boward Martin; daughter, Mrs. Peggi Foltz of Hagerstown; sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Witt, of San Antonio, Tex., Mrs. Doris Davis of Grand Island, N.Y., Mrs. Husander of Palm City, Fla., and Mrs. Daisy Mertz of Hagerstown; brothers, Wilbur Martin and Glenn Martin, both of Hagerstown; two grandsons.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. The Rev. Karl Schrouk will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the chapel this evening from 7 to 9.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Morris Frock Poat No. 42 of the American Legion.
