The first person that needs my gratitude for the major share of the information that I have been able to share with the world is Susan Grace Martin Shipman. She spent most of her adult life gathering the Martin and Campbell family genealogy and recording it in George Martyn of Salisbury, Mass. and his descendants. 1973 edition. Her information comes from direct contact with the families concerned. My mother told me that she had received several requests from Susan Shipman asking for information on relatives. She was looking for accurate places of births and deaths and any other useful and accurate information. From the forward of this book, Mrs. Shipman wrote " This book is the outcome of records collected from 1933 to the present time. They are the result of correspondence, personal interviews and much information gleaned from newspapers".

The next person to add to my family genealogy (maternal side) is my grandfather, Fred A. Johnson's, sister, Jennie N. Johnson who's husband, Harold E. Hitchcock collected the information for The descendants of Joseph H. Johnson and Frances D. (Eggleston) Johnson by: H.E. Hitchcock, November 1, 1940. My next source of information comes from the writing of The Genealogy of John and Ruth Johnson who lived in Chester, Vermont in the year 1800, before and after by: George M.T. Johnson of Binghamton, NY.

I have a copy of George Martyn of Salisbury, Mass and His Descendants. It has some errors in my family. p.92: Mae Viola Martin married Lawrence Nelson Johnson (not Nelson Lawrence Johnson). p.121 LCDR Norman Martin Johnson is son of Lawrence N. Johnson and Mae Viola (Martin) Johnson; not son of his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Fred Johnson.
