She was the daughter of Antoine Martin and Françoise Février. ^{[1] [2]}

On 17 Feb 1738, at the age of 31, she married Louis Ménard, then 25 years old, at Contrecoeur, Nouvelle-France. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

Josephte and Louis had three children together from 1738 to 1745, including 2 girls and 1 boy. ^[2]

Josephte lived to be 78 years old, and following her death on 5 May 1785 was buried at St-Ours, in what had become a part of British America, referred to as British North America following the independence of the American colonies to the South. ^{[1] [2]}
