Family oral tradition is that the birth date on his tombstone is incorrect by a year. His parents (Daniel H. Martin and Amanda Yates Martin Jones Greenhaw) did not marry until April 28, 1876 (after the published birth date).

Arwine Martin, age 20, married 29 Aug 1897 in Newton County, Arkansas to S. A. Anthony (b. ca 1882), age 15, of Mount Judea, Newton Co., AR. J. W. Casteel was surety for the marrige license bond.
