DOB - Although his tombstone states a birth date in 1876, family oral tradition backed up by his WWI draft registration card and and his marriage license indicate a birth date of 1877. Family oral tradition is that the birth date on his tombstone is incorrect by a year. His parents (Daniel H. Martin and Amanda Yates Martin Jones Greenhaw) did not marry until April 28, 1876 (after the published birth date).

NOTE: First name spelling varies, Arwine and Arewine.
This is according to oral family history from my father James Arthur Martin. Arwine Yates Martin was his grandfather. When Arewine's father Daniel Hugh Martin brought his pregnant wife Amanda Yates Martin back to Newton County and left her, he stated stated that he would be back to get the child after she delivered. For this reason when ever a stranger came into the area, Amanda and young Arwine would go into hiding. Arwine went by the last names of his step fathers, Jones and Greenhaw, at different times.
