Daniel's father was James D. Martin. Oral family history states that while fighting at Pea Ridge he was able to where he was born. Death date is based only on the widow's application of his then wife, who stated that he had died in "Marble City, Madison County, Arkansas" in 1880, just before the birth of her child.
Family oral history from Norman Martin (grandson of Daniel H. Martin) to James A. Martin (great grandson) of Daniel H. Martin).
