TEMUKA LEADER, ISSUE 10772, 28 MARCH 1925
DOUGLAS—MARTIN. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the King Street Methodist Church, Temuka, on Wednesday, 25th March, the contracting parties being Ada, youngest daughter of Mrs S. and the late Mr A. Martin, and Stewart, second son of Mr and Mrs S. Douglas, both of Temuka. The Rev. R. Richards was the officiating clergyman, and Miss E. Gibbs presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr F. Martin, looked charming in a frock of white figured crepe-de-chene, trimmed with pearls. She wore the usual veil and orange blossom, and carried a beautiful bouquet of lilies, rosebuds and maiden hair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss May Martin, who was frocked in lavender morocain, with black hat relieved with lavender, and shoes and stockings to match. She carried a bouquet of lavender sweet peas and sea lilies with maiden hair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr S. J. Douglas, as best man. The wedding breakfast was held in Budd’s Tea Rooms, where the usual toasts were honoured. Later the happy couple left for the north amid showers of confetti, the bride travelling in a navy serge costume, with a mole coloured hat trimmed to match. The presents were numerous and handsome.
