LOST SIX FINGERS.
LOCAL BOY'S ACCIDENT.
TEMUKA LEADER, ISSUE 10770, 24 MARCH 1925
Shortly after four o'clock on Saturday afternoon,- a distressing accident occurred (in the furniture factory of Mr L. G. Scrimshaw. A young man named Eric Martin was engaged in working a machine, when his hands got caught, severing four fingers on the right hand and two on the left. He was immediately removed to Te Rata Hospital, and an operation was performed. The fingers on the right hand were amputated at the first joint and the two on the left hand above the second joint. Upon enquiry at the hospital yesterday, it was learned that the patient was progressing satisfactorily.
Eric married Rita Gladys BREHAUT (1904-1991) in Kalgoorlie, WA in 1933, twin daughter (sister was Gladys Rita Brehaut) of William Henry Brehaut & Elizabeth Brown 
Eric passed away in 1989  and is buried in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Christchurch
