William was born about 1789. He passed away about 1839.

William Salathiel Martin's son dictated a book that named his father and mother....."With Frémont to California and the Southwest 1845-1849, by Thomas Salathiel Martin and Ferol Egan, published by Lewis Osborne. This is a previously unpublished memoir of a participant in Fremont's third and fourth expeditions, dictated in 1878 to Bancroft
