Biography
- Mary Martin was born in 1865 at Magheraknock, County Down, Ireland. She was the daughter of William Martin[1].
- Mary married Samuel English on 1 Jan 1896[2]. Her sister Matilda married Samuel's brother Hugh. Samuel was a Presbyterian Minister and Farmer. They lived at Ballykine Upper near Lisburn, Co. Down.
- Samuel and Mary had four known children: James English (b. 1897), Jane English (b. 1899), William English (b. 1901), Agnes English (b. 1904).
- In the 1901 Ireland census, Mary was age 35 living at Ballykine Upper, Co. Down with her husband Samuel English (39), son James English (3), daughter Jane M English (1). Also Martha Bothwell (30) General Servant Domestic, Robert Bell (19) Farm Servant[3].
- In the 1911 Ireland census, Mary was age 45 living at Ballykine Upper, Co. Down with her husband Samuel English (49), sons James English (13), Wm Martin English (9), daughters Jane M English (11), Agnes Hill English (6), niece Jane Trimble (21). Also Sarah Orr (39) General Servant Domestic[4].
- Samuel died in 1921.
- It is not known when Mary died.
