William was born in 1871. He was the son of Allen Martin and Emily Waynick. He passed away in 1919.

• he 1902 voter registration lists a W. A. Martin age 32 who claimed that his direct ancestor was Allen Martin when he registered in Reidsville township on 14 oct 1902. Age is compatible with age 9 on 1880 census.

This family appears on the 1900 census and 1910 in Reidsville township.

1880 census: Williamsburg, Rockingham Co NC Emily is a widow, her sons Fletcher, and Joseph Stallions are with her, as well as her young son Willie Allen Martin age 9.

He was the Postmaster of Forshee, NC which is now part of Reidsville, NC.

The town where my peaple were living was known as the town of Forshee, Rockingham Co. NC. and a post office was established there on14 Aug 1900 and my grandfather William Allen Martin was named the postmaster there untill 25 March 1911 when he became to ill to handle the job. The post office was then moved to Reidsville, NC. He also ran a small country store by the Rail Road bridge in front of their home. My mother ran the store for three years after her father died.
