Elizabeth, known as "Bess", eldest child of George and Ann Martin and grand-daughter of William and Cordelia Martin, was born on 28th July 1867 at Burrell Creek.
When she married Christopher Schneider, whose parents lived at Firefly, Bess and Christopher settled in the Upper Macleay River Valley. They later returned to the Manning River District where Christopher worked with a bullock team on the construction of the North Coast railway line. The home of Bess and Christopher was at Krambach on a property they named "Mountain View". Christopher built his own home and cleared the land for farming and with his bullock team took the timber to Wright's Mill at Avalon. The property Bess and Christopher developed as a dairy farm is now owned by their great-grandson, Neville Harris.
In 1919 Bess and Christopher moved to Taree with some of their family, but in 1922 they returned to dairying at "Mountain View".
Bess had a busy life, and as was usual for wives of farmers, helped with the dairying and farming chores, as well as cleaning, sewing, and caring for a growing family, and cooking, often providing meals for extra men employed to work with the bullock team.
Christopher built several other homes, some in Taree, and one in Albert Lane is still being occupied.
Bess and Christopher remained for the rest of their days at "Mountain View" and Christopher died there in 1931. Elizabeth died in Taree Hospital in 1939.
