Research Notes

  • see entries from St Peter's parish register on wife Sarah's profile
  • deed: 1725 record for land in Henrico County
  • Martin tree with DNA notes as well as discussions (following was of interest, given the 1725 land record found above). for example:
    • Martin Martin probably died in Goochland County, Virginia. The Martin Martin who lived in Henrico County, Virginia was still alive when the Martin Martin born in New Kent County died about 1765. That was the year when Martin Martin's son, Thomas, resurveyed the land he inherited.
  • Rootsweb post... has 1667 birth for Sarah AND her dad's birth as 1658 (so he was a father at 9). But has other info I haven't seen elsewhere that might be worth pursuing.
  • The parents of Martin Martin are unknown. Thomas Martin and Rebecca Higgins were attached as the parents of Martin-4906. They have been removed pending additional documentation. A book listing the children of Thomas Martin and Rebecca Higgins does not show a son named Martin.
    • Francis, Charles William. Genealogy of the Martin Family. [West Jordan, Utah?]: [Stemmons?], 1989. p. 15
  • His parents were George Martin and Ursula Unity Susannah (West) Martin. He married Sarah Hix. They were the parents of Elizabeth Anne and Orsin Martin. He died in 1745 in Goochland, Virginia.[7] (added by Rhonda Clontz 19 Jan 2018)

I approved the merge to Martin-4906 as representing the same person. However, I've found no evidence for the parents and suggest they be removed, pending supporting documentation, at the merge.

Martin-40698 and Martin-28386 appear to represent the same person because: same birth and death dates and state are used, as well as the same wife. The research notes on Martin-40698 seem to refer to an entirely different family, however.

Hello,

I am confused... Your research notes and biography contradict each other. Also, the FAG memorial you cite states that Martin Martin of this profile is probably of English, not Scottish, descent.

Martin-4906 and Martin-28386 appear to represent the same person because: Husband of Sarah Hix. Father of Valentine Martin. Martin-4906 birth/parentage need to be evaluated to determine if they should be retained during merge.

I think Martin's father was George, then back to Thomas... Check this out on Geni.com...
