Elias Martin joined the New York Milita when he was 16. He was made Corporal. [1]

He claimed $58 worth of equipment. [2][3]

After the war Martin went to Canada where he worked as a government surveyor.

He married Rhoda King in 1822.

They had the following children:

  1. Baldwin Martin 1825-1861 (Minnesota)
  2. Edwy Hooper Martin 1829-1829
  3. Elizabeth Martin 1831-1832

Rhoda died in 1831. In 1833 Elias married Unicey Lathrop. [4]

  2. Charlotte (Colt) 1835-1900 (Iowa)
  3. Rhoda (Colt) 1837-1900 (Iowa)
  4. Afred “Fred” Martin 1840-1927 (Rockford)
  5. Gustavus Martin 1842-1863 (died at Vicksburg)
  6. Melinda (Cowles) 1844-1848
Elias Martin was an early settler in Winnebago County, Illinois.

The came west and settled in Winnebago County in 1839. [5]

Unicey died in 1863.

Elias married Elizabeth Stowe (Holden) in 1870. [6]

Elias passed away in 1889. [7]
