Dr. John Martin, born 1738; died 1773; practiced in Talbot County; married Elizabeth Bond, daughter of Dr. Thomas Bond of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his wife, Susannah Roberts, daughter of Edward Roberts, born 4 Feb 1680, Mayor of Philadelphia (and his wife, Susannah Painter) who was the son of Hugh Roberts, born at Llyndedwyd, in Penllyn, Merionethshire, Bola Lake, Wales, who emigrated to Merion Township, Pennsylvania, where he died in 1702, and his wife, Jane, daughter of Owen Ap Evan of Fron Goch of Llyn, descended from the Princess of South Wales.
Dr. Thomas Bond, a brother of Dr. Phineas Bond, and related to the Cadwalladers, was born in Calvert County, Maryland, 3 Jun 1712; died 9 Jun 1784. Studied medicine in Paris, practiced in Philadelphia from 1734 until his death. Was an intimate friend of Dr. Benjamin Frankllin, was one of the original members (1743) of the American Philosophical Society, and one of its officers during the remainder of his life; was the originator and one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Hospital, where he delivered its first clinical lectures; was one of the trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. His prominence as a physician attracted international attention.
