Biography

Obit

Gino Martinucci Aug. 24, 1930 - Aug. 31, 2015 Resident of El Cerrito Gino was born and raised in El Cerrito to Italian immigrant parents, Francesco and Filide Martinucci, by way of Colle di Compito, Italy. Gino graduated from El Cerrito High in 1948 and was proud to be a Gaucho and long-time booster. He was hired immediately upon graduation by Richmond Unified School District as a carpenter and greatly enjoyed his career. Over the years he continued to be promoted and eventually became Director of Maintenance until his retirement in 1988. Gino will be dearly missed by Gloria, his loving wife of 63 years and children: Teri (Steve) Hurlbut, Lori Framsted, Ron (Marci) Martinucci, John (Paula) Martinucci and Steven (Angela) Martinucci. He was a caring Nonno to his nine grandchildren: Danny, Michael, Marisa, Erica, Andrew, Zachary, Halle, Enzo and Gabriella. He was especially proud to be a Bisnonno to Stella, Weston, Forrest and Cameryn; beloved brother-in-law of Joan Pieri (late Joseph F. Pieri) and Uncle Gino to Jeanine (Jim) McDermott, Juliana (Jeff) Bell, Joey Pieri and Amanda McDermott. He will be equally missed by his many life-long friends. Gino was a damn good cabinetmaker and avid golfer, who managed to score two holes-in-one during his retirement. When he was able to coax Gloria, the two enjoyed many travelling adventures. Given the opportunity, Gino enjoyed being with his family, celebrating birthdays, holidays or working on one of the kids' special home projects- he always made time for those he loved. Gino supported various organizations - Italian Catholic Federation (Branch 154), St. Jerome Parish, Holy Names HS, Salesian HS, St. Mary's College HS, S.I.R.S., Colombo Club, Fratellanza Club and Soroptimist International. Visitation from 5 -7 pm Thurs., Sept. 3 at St. Jerome Church, El Cerrito, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 pm. A celebration of life will be held Friday at 10 am, St. Jerome Church, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, San Pablo. Donations may be made in Gino's memory to the I.C.F. Scholarship Fund, Holy Names HS Scholarship Fund, American Heart Association and American Lung Association. [1]
