Biography

Susanna Martyn was a daughter of Richard Martyn and Susanna Allen (Low) Martyn, born 18 August 1769 in Northborough, Massachusetts.[1][2]

She married Jonathan Martin in Windham, Connecticut, on 3 March 1791. In about 1795-6 they went together to Williamstown, Vermont, with their two children. In Williamstown her husband acquired several parcels of farmland between 1796 and 1799. [3]

Their children were:[3]

  1. Stedman Martin, born Dec. 10, 1791 in Hampton, Connecticut; married Huldah Bixbee.
  2. Matilda Martin, born May 2, 1794, in Hampton; died unmarried on Feb. 17, 1813 in Williamstown, Vermont.
  3. Lucy Martin, born Dec. 19, 1797 in Williamstown; married Cyrus Seaver.
  4. Jonathan Martin, born Oct.12,1803 in Williamstown; died June 25, 1804.
  5. Harvey Martin, b. Feb. 3, 1806 in Williamstown; married Lucinda Carpenter.
  6. Clarissa Martin, born June 17,1808 in Williamstown; died young.
  7. Clarissa Martin,born Feb.11,1810 in Williamstown; married Joel Shepard.

Susannah Martin died in Williamstown on 28 December 1845 and is buried in East Hill Cemetery in Williamstown. [3][4] [5]
