Biography

Do not edit or merge this profile. First contact the profile manager or David Douglas. Matthew Mashburn is a newly wed by the 1830 census of Monroe Co. TN. By the 1840 census he has moved to adjoining Polk Co. TN. They are still in Polk Co. in 1850. Matthew's wife was Eleanor, often called Ellen. By the 1860 census they are in Dade Co. GA. near Trenton. This census gives his trade as a Miller. Matthew seems to have died after the 1860 census. Ellen Mashburn is on the 1870 census of nearby Jackson Co. AL., living at Bishop. So it is not clear if Matthew Mashburn died in GA. or AL? Their children were, Martha E., David, William, Hulda, Matthew, John, James, Levi, Mary & Texas A., as proven by census.
