Samuel was baptised at Walsall, St Matthew, on 26 Jun 1765, the son of Thomas and Ann Mason.[1]
He was married to Eleanor Williams on 7 Feb 1785 at St Matthew, Walsall.[2]
Samuel died aged 69 in 1834 and was buried on 27 December 1834 at St Matthew, Walsall, according to the parish register; The National Burial Index has the previous day.[3] He left a will, signed on 24 April 1832 and proved on 23 April 1835. He is described as "yeoman" rather than by a trade or profession. To his daughter Harriet Ann Mason he left four houses "near to the turnpike road leading from Walsall to Stafford". All the rest of his "Messuages, Tenements, Buildings, Lands and Hereditaments" and personal estate he left to "my five sons" Thomas, William, Charles, Samuel, and Edward in equal shares as tenants in common. Executors were his sons Thomas Mason, schoolmaster, and William Mason, saddle tree maker, both of Walsall.[4]
