Biography

Charlotte Augusta Mason was born about 1862 in Connecticut, United States. ^[1] and emigrated from Melbourne to Swan River with her mother Hannah, and sister Carry in 1866. ^[2][3]

Charlotte married first to James Leland (Leyland) in Western Australia in 1882. ^[4] She next married Robert Coutts in 1886. ^[5]

Charlotte passed away in 1943, in Donnybrook, Western Australia at the age of 81. ^[1] Her daughter Mrs S Williams stated that her mother was believed to be an American citizen at the time of her death, having been born in Connecticut. ^[3]
