N. A. Mason's father was Squire Mason fom Massachuettes and then to Ohio. He possibly desends from the Rev. War Veteran William Mason that settled in Warren County and that the town of Mason Ohio was named after him.
It is possible that he was killed in the Union Army sometime after 1861. His 2nd and last child was George Mason that was born around 1863. Pike-2301
