Biography

Dorothy was born on January 18, 1926 in Lewisburg, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Bud Massey and Laura Richmond. She was the oldest of 2 children. She also had 6 older half-siblings from her father's first marriage.

Dorothy's sister, Mary Jane, was still born in 1927. Before the 1930 US Federal Census, her parents split and she stayed with her mother.

On October 10, 1944, Dorothy married Raymond Arthur Slaughter in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, she was 18 years old and he was 20 years old. In the span of 8 years, they had 4 children together. Their children are: (1) Arthur Lee: April 1, 1947 - living (2) Linda Joyce: August 25, 1948 - living (3) James Edwin: February 4, 1953 - December 23, 2003 (4) Peggy Lynn: November 18, 1955 - June 30, 2014.

On April 26, 1998, Dorothy passed away in Evansville, Indiana at the age of 72 years old. She is buried in Slaughter Cemetery in Todd, Kentucky.
