Compiled military service record found at the National Archives and Records Administration Washington DC and copies at Fold3 indicate John D Massie enlisted in April of 1863 but mustered into the 3rd West Virginia Cavalry in September, Company K Wolfe's Company at Point Pleasant West Virginia.
