Joseph was born in 1813 in Marieville, Province du Bas-Canada. based on his baptism that day.
He married Marie Julie Bouvier about 1841 in Plattsburgh, New York, where they settled.[1][2]They had 14 children in 24 years. Before 1870, they moved to Burlington, Vermont, and then to Winooski where he worked as a teamster.[3]
He died on July 10, 1873, in Colchester, Vermont, at the age of 61 after being struck by a freight train.[4]
