Dur passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his home.
Son of the late Hilton Masters and Dorothy (Corder) Masters-Zipperer.
Graduate Newark High School 1949. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served in occupied Germany following WWII.
He worked in the railroad industry for 42 years, first as a conductor/brakeman on the B&O Railroad. He was the local chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He later became International Vice-President of the United Transportation Union. He was an active member of many organizations including American Legion Post #85, VFW Post #1060, DAV,Crusader Lodge #720 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite, Licking Co. Shrine and F.O.E. #387. He was a Methodist by faith.
Survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, two grandsons, a great grandson, a sister in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, by his loving wife, Ruth Marie (Stough) Masters, whom he married May 9, 1954 and who died November 9, 2015; and brothers, William Dwayne Masters and Fred Zipperer; and several “furry friends”.
