Biography

Born 20 December 1820 in Owen County, Indiana, Adam P J Matheny moved with his family to Edgar County, Illinois in 1825, and to Schuyler County, Ilinois in 1830; later, the family moved to Platte County, Missouri, from whence they departed in 1843 for Oregon.

Adam eloped with Sarah Jane Layson.

He fought in the Cayuse War as a private of the Fifth Company of the Oregon Rifles..[1]

Adam passed away 7 November 1895.
