William was born on 7 December 1848 in Georgia, USA.[1]
In the 1850 census William (age 17 months) was living in Valley Plains, Harris, Georgia, USA.[1]
In the 1860 census William (age 11) was living in Jackson, Florida, USA. Residence Post Office: Marianna.[2]
When William was 23 he married Sarah Ann Baxter on 11 January 1872 in Jackson, Florida, USA. The couple had 2 children: Isarel Franklin Mathews and Sarah Virginia Mathews.[3]
William died at the age of 71 on 12 April 1920 and was buried in Malone, Jackson County, Florida, USA.[4]
