Ezekiel was the son of Thomas Mathews and Margaret Mathews.He married Rebecca Jones,who was born 27 Jun 1745 in Laurens South Carolina and died 7 Oct 1839 daughter of Phillip JONES and Rebecca Jones Rench.

Both Ezekial and Rebecca were members of Raburn Creek Baptist church, Laurens co. SC
