Gertrude had immigrated to the US in 1881, and became a naturalized citizen in November 1904; their children, both in school: Douglas, 14, b. Michigan; and Gertrude L., 12. [5]

He was not a veteran. Wilbur owned the house, valued at $5000. He had married at age 19; his wife, Gertrude E., 44, b. Canada, who had married at age 18; their daughter Gertrude L. Dahn, 22, b. Minnesota, who had married at 18; her husband, Walter H. Dahn, 25, b. Nebraska, a garage mechanic, and a WWI veteran. He married at age 21; and their son, Robert W. Dahn, 1, b. California. [6]
Wilber E. Mathewson was born on 8 April 1879 in Michigan. He died, aged 54, on 12 October 1933 in Long Beach, California, and is buried (near his wife Gertrude) in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles, California. [7]

Wilbur was the son of Alvin (sic) Mathewson and Eunice Sherman. He had lived in California, 20 years, all that time in Long Beach. Wilbur died in his home on 12 October 1933, aged 54. The informant to his death was his wife Gertrude. Cause of death was “nephritis, chronic, due to arteriosclerotic kidney” of 2-3 years, contributed by hypertension and generalized arteriosclerosis. Wilbur was buried on 14 October 1933 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California[8][9]
