She was the daughter of Ernest Matthewman and Louise Farrell.[1] She married Henry Aldous Aylen on 24 Sep 1927 in Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada.[2]
She was a former pupil of Ottawa Collegiate Institute (now known as Lisgar Collegiate Institute) and she later studied at Macdonald College of McGill University.[3]
She was buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario.[4]
