Louisa was born before 1891.

Research Notes

Presumed death record is per NSW BDM death of CLABBY, LOUISA, reg. no. 1531/1972, showing father EDWARD and mother UNKNOWN, registered at SYDNEY. However, there are no registered births in NZ in the period 1850 - 1900 in the name Louisa Matthews/ Mathews with a father's name 'Edward'.

However, there is also a Death Notice published in 1950 for what may be Louisa's brother: ^[1]

MATTHEWS, Walter.-June 3 1950 of 53 East Crescent Street McMahon's Point, relict of Molly Matthews and loved father of Beryl (Mrs McIntyre), dear brother of Louisa (Mrs Clabby), aged 74 years. At rest

The notice suggests that Walter was born around 1876 and the relative registration for his death shows his parents' names as 'Thomas' and 'Ann'. ^[2]

Again, however, there are no births registered in NZ from 1850 - 1900 with parents 'Edward' (per Louisa's death) or 'Thomas' (per Walter's) that seem to fit.

There are, however the following births in NZ:

• NZ BDM birth reg. no. 1878/5527, of Mathews, Louisa, to mother Ann Catherine and father Joseph Henry
