The earliest record located for Ida at this time is the 1871 marriage record listed above.
On the 1880 Census she is listed with her husband and two daughters (W and M.L. Gafford) in Montgomery, Texas but it is curious to note that two other older children are listed with a different last name(Willie and Jennie Riley) that are too old to have been her children.[2]
On Febuary 4, 1896 there is a marriage record between Ida Gafford (widowed) and G.R. Bobbitt in Conroe, Montgomery, Texas.[3]
However, on the 1900 Census she is listed as Ida Gafford (widowed) in the home of her daughter Mary Lou and her son-in-law Joe Holley in Polk, Texas.[4]
There has been speculation that she passed away around or shortly after the 1900 Census; but this may not be true if she did indeed marry Mr. Bobbit because in 1910 - Ida Bobbitt is listed in the same household as the 1900 Census; with Mary Lou and Joe Holley in Angelina, Texas.[5]
Further research has not yielded a census report with her listed in 1920 or 1930 (at this time) but a death record has been located for Ida Gafford that is dated February 8, 1934 that may or may not belong to her (see details below).[6]
Additional research indicates that the record of death listed above does not belong to this Ida Gafford; it belongs to Ida Jane Compton Gafford who was born in 1862; her Find a Grave ID is: 45541776 . Based on this information I will edit her death to after 1900 until more research can be conducted.
