1928 - Kentucky, Breckinridge County, 7 Sep 1928 The Kentucky Birth Index shows William H. Matthews was born on 7 Sep 1928 in Ohio County to Mary Walker. Volume 198, Certificate 92769.
1930 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, District 17, 18 Apr 1930 Sheet 3A shows Ira Matthews (28), wife Mary (28) and children Elda D. (4) and William H. (1) living on the farm they own located on the Shreve Hitesfalls Road. They both report being 23 when first married. All report they and their parents were born in Kentucky. Ira is a farmer. Many of Mary's siblings are shown on the next page of the census as well as her mother and father.
1940 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Other Places, District 92-16, 2 Apr 1940 Sheet 1A shows Ira Matthews (38), wife Mary (38) and children Elda D. (14), William H. (11), Howard L. (9) and Dorothy M. (2). All report they were born in Kentucky and living in the same place in 1935. Ira and Mary report having completed the 8th grade and all of the children are attending school. Ira is a farmer. Neighbors include Remus Tuttle, Walter Walker and Clinton Hart Walker. They rent the home for $5 per month.
