Consider: Lucenda Matthews Weathers and husband Stephen were residents of Talbot, Georgia during their married life. Their last child was born in 1857. Stephen died in 1861 and Lucenda died in 1863. Therefore, the probability that she would have left her young child and journed to Sampson, NC to remarry has to be very slim.
Also consider that the death certificate for Golalus L, Wrench, died 2 Aug 1865, comes from a Find-A-Grave for this individual and in addition that entry identifies a Sophia Matthews (1845-1900 also born in Sampson Co) as his mother. Her parents are identified as a John H. Matthews and Rebecca Howard Matthews.
Therefore, I would assert that there is no evidence that she every married a John Wrench and thus has no connection to David Bowie.
To further complicate the story of "Stephen and Lucenda Weathers" - there is another Stephen and Lucenda with similar dates and names located in a different part of Georgia. Many Ancestry trees have mixed them up.
