Appears to be the son of Oscar David Matthews and [Mahala?] Elizabeth Gibson, based on his marriage record and also his 1930 Census record of living what can be assumed to be his sister (Frances Matthews) and her husband Laren (sp?) Kay. Although his WWII Draft card erroneously lists "O. D. Matthews" as his "mother." His marriage record also mentions brother-in-law Laren Kay.
He married his wife Carolyn Sutherlin (sp?) in Elkhart, IN on 27 Sep 1932 and they later moved to Michigan for unknown reasons, where he was employed by Kalamazoo Paper Company.
His records are inconsistent about his name and middle name, I'm not sure if his name is Bayles but he goes by Oscar, or may have changed his name to switch them at some point.
