Biography

John Wesley Matthews was born in 1859 in Broad Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware, son of Wingate and Catherine Matthews. He was listed as 11/12 yr.on the 1860 census. ^[1] He married Anna C Long in 1878 in Sussex Co., Delaware ^[2] He passed away in a hospital in the neighborhood of Franklin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 23 Nov 1936, 5 months after wife Annie died but was interred on Nov 25,1936 in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford, Delaware, sharing a stone with Annie. ^{[3] [4]}
