Note N356His obituary was in the Sullivan-Progress 11-3-1922. It states that he was killed when a Wabash frieght train backed upon him as he worked picking up spikes. It happened on Saturday at Bement around 10:00 in the morning. The body was badly cut up. Services were conducted at Whitfield Church, and the church was so full that it could not contain all the mourners. He was nearly 30 years old and left a wife, Eva Lane of about 8 years, and a small son. He spent all his life in Moultrie and Shelby counties till about a year before when he moved to Bement.
