Sir Robert Maule of Panmure succeeded his father when he was sixteen. In 1526 he was part in an unsuccessful attempt to remove James V from the control of the Douglases. He was wounded in 1547 in a battle with the English, and imprisoned in the Tower of London until 1549. He died May 3, 1560. [1][2] He was Sheriff of Angus and Lord. Of Panmure.
He married, before 1519, Isobel Mercer (died April 30, 1540), daughter of Lawrence Mercer of Aldie, by whom he had at least seven children. [1].
He then married, in 1545, Isobel Arbuthnot, widow Ochterlony, and by her had four children. She died in 1558. [2] He died May 3, 1560[2] One of those children is thought to have been Hary or Harry or Henry "Maule of Innerpeffer, eldest son of Robert, Baron of Panmure, by his second wife Isabel Arbuthnot" [3] According to Sirnet Henry married Katherine Boswell (daughter of John Boswell of Baglillie)
