Biography

Robert Maust Jr. is a Military Veteran.
Served in the United States Army 1945-1946

Robert was born about 1927. He is the son of Robert Maust and Freda Graves.

Obituary

Robert “Bud” B. Maust Jr., was born in Sanborn, Iowa, to Robert B. Maust Sr. and Freda (Graves) Maust July 12, 1926. He attended a country school on Gruber Ridge, near Lansing, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1945-1946, receiving a medical discharge from injuries while in Okinawa during World War II. He married Helen (Gillespie) Jan. 14, 1950, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. The Lord blessed them with 65 years of marriage.

He served on the church council, New Albin City Council, belonged to the Lansing VFW Post 5981, American Legion Post 50, Disabled Vets, and was active in the New Albin VFW Post 5961. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 65 years. He was active in the activities that helped benefit New Albin.

He passed away Aug. 15, 2015, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Danny Maust (friend, Kris France) of Stoddard, Scott (Maryann) Maust of Monmouth, Ill, Cindy (Dennis) Smith of McGregor, Iowa, and Kent (friend, Kris Curry) of New Albin; sisters, Donna (David) Kerkow of Columbia Heights, Minn., Jean Steiber of Lansing; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Pattie Maust; grandson, Jason Maust; great-grandson, Justin Cahoon.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Peter’s Church with the Rev. William Reese officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the New Albin Community Center as well as one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery, Lansing, with military rites by the Lansing VFW Post 5981.
