Biography

Disambiguation

There appear to be two women named Mawgawse, or some variation, who lived at different times:

  • Space:Morgause, Mawgawse is a figure in the Arthur narratives and would be dated around 475. In the Arthur narratives she is the sister of Morgen ferch Gwyrlys, and in some later narratives is merged with Morgen. In the Arthur narratives, Uther Pendragon was her father.
  • Anna Mawgawse figures in early Welsh genealogies as the wife of Gwair ap Dwywg. She was probably born around 565 This Anna is often conflated into the Arthur narratives, but actually lived a century later. For this reason she has been disconnected from [[DeBritain-8|Uther Pendragon as father, whose time period would have been a century earlier.
