Honored on Panel 39W, Row 3 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Specialist 4 Eason J. Maxey was a 20 year old U.S. Army Soldier who died from gun or small arms fire during the Vietnam War. He was born in Georgetown, Georgia, but was living in Newark, New Jersey when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with B Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Infantry Brigade, 23rd Infantry Division (Americal Division). SP4 Maxey was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with two service stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.[1]
